NEVER THOUGHT EVEN ONCE
© Cynthia Hilts 1994

I had a dream I said goodbye
You hurt me just enough so I wouldn't stay
In the dream I didn't cry
I realized I didn't want you anyway
In the dream I was cold, I was tough
In the dream I said enough is enough
In the dream, my only thought was to dismiss you
I never thought even once
What it would be like to kiss you
Again
But that was just a dream
I do think what it would be like to kiss you

I had a dream you said hello
Some time had passed and our time was long ago
In the dream, the memories didn't glow
They were more like some lost piece of a cold echo
In the dream I didn't wonder how much you cared
In the drean there was nothing wondrous in what we'd shared
In the dream it didn't seem as though I missed you
I never thought even once
What it would be like to kiss you
Again
But that was just a dream
I do think what it would be like to kiss you

I had a dream, you were like any other man
The way we talked was just the way everybody can
In the dream, no darkness turned to light
Our minds didn't meet and soar away in fantastic flight
In the dream you never sang the song I learned as a child
In the dream we never walked through the park laughing like wild
In the dream we didn't play like little kids do
I never thought even once
What it would be like to kiss you
Again
But that was just a dream
I do think what it would be like to kiss you
